Cheers to Health!

2013 I've committed to getting fit and healthy- that doesn't necessarily mean that I'll be a size 0, that doesn't mean I'll lose gobs of weight (though, that would be nice)... what it means to me is that I will FEEL and look good- I'll be able to run around with my toddler and not tire out before she does... it means I am going to enjoy the outdoors and all that this state has to offer.

In April I began my challenge- and I'm happy to report that I feel better about myself both physically and emotionally... and I've lost 20lbs! I've certainly got a ways to go- and I know I said it wasn't about weight, but I would like to get down at least another 20.

I've really bonded with some friends that have similar goals and we get out 6-7 days a week doing something physical. It has been really wonderful! The only downside is that I have less time with my family, which really does bum me out sometimes- I keep telling myself that once I get down to where I want to be I can start doing these things WITH them, because I'll be stronger and more able to do things like carry Amory in a backpack hiking or go on a jog with Zak. Hopefully. I've definitely got to work more family time into my busy schedule!

In the meantime I've done a lot this month! April and I have taken up kayaking every Wednesday and have had a few crazy adventures (how does a river drop so low in just a week, I'll never know!). We've been kayaking, hiking, walking, doing skyrobics, flipping tires, lifting weights, swimming and we are going to start skating soon, also! Wow- it sounds like so much when I type it all out!

I just want to write this post as a big hoorah to me- I'm feeling pretty accomplished and happy with the direction things are turning and I wanted to document it.

In other news- Zak is about 1/2 way through his summer semester with about 35 days left. I only know this because we are going to THE BEACH a few days after his finals are over (can I get a woot woot?)! Amory has started gymnastics and is going every Tuesday morning- she is adorable. Amory has also developed a new little attitude that I'm attributing to the terrible threes- her birthday is next week, and I am SO not ready for that. :)

FulFILLING Our Days

Wow, I can't even tell you how busy we have been these past few weeks- it is amazing I have some time to sit down and write this out (granted, it is midnight). We've been burning the candle at both ends for a while now, and boy, it is starting to catch up.

Last week we had an amazing visit from my wonderful Grandparents Michael and Jan immediately following my littlest brother's graduation from high school (woop woop!!). They flew in Tuesday and we had a big steak dinner that night- steaks as big bigger than my whole face, it was insane- and delicious! Wednesday we had an installation for work at the Parade of Homes (woop woop again) and followed it up with yummy lunch at Matt The Miller's Tavern in Dublin. Yummo. Seriously.
Thursday we kicked it up a notch (especially with the temperature) and headed to the Zoo. Boy was it hot- but super fun! We checked out many of the exibits and made our way to the brand new Dinosaur Boat Tour. It was refreshing to get off of our feet and be misted every so often. Amory got a kick out of the dinosaurs and "protected" me from the giant T-Rex... but this all paled in comparison to the lorikeets. Boy, did everyone love the lorikeets. Michael paid for us all to have a few cups of nectar to feed the birds and we all got to hold the cups for the birds to drink out of. Amory was overjoyed, but the wise birds would only land NEXT to her to drink, not on her as they did with the grandparents. I don't blame them. That night we ate a scrumdiddlyuptious Spanish dinner at Barcelona in German Village.

Friday we got brave and drove an hour and a half to "The Wilds" and outdoor safari reserve. We hopped in the bus and rode around for 2-2.5 hours enjoying the views (and the breeze). We got to see rhinos, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and a few other exotic animals. Toward the end my allergies started acting up and I left looking like a giant swollen crazy person with leaky eyes- bummer.

Saturday my parents had a wine tasting party planned- but we were able to sneak in ZIPLINING that morning for about 2 and a half hours right by my parents house. It was a blast! The party was fun too, but near dusk we escaped to go to Cheesecake Factory for dessert- and after right across the street to the Fountains at Polaris Mall. Live music was playing at The Pub across the street and Amory got fully soaked running through the fountain while the rest of us watched, relaxed, and enjoyed the perfect weather and perfect company.
Sunday they left (super sad) and I went to my skyrobics with the gals- the new instructor was intense and we all basically hobbled out of there. Zak and I went to a cookout at Jackie's house that evening up near Murifield OH and had a great time relaxing and playing battle of the sexes with our friends... then it was time to head home and get ready for a new week- boo.

Monday was our catch-up day. With so many things going on the prior week we had to get back to the grind and get caught up. Tuesday Amory and I met Gabe and his mommy for a playdate at the fountains, then I had to head to work- but that night my dad and his buddy Chris came to skyzone for AIRobics with us- it was hilarious to watch them trying to keep up... and it reminded me of where I started just mere weeks ago. They both want to come back!

Today was the final day in my saga here- While I spend MOST of the day at work Bre took Amory to the fountains and "bunny park" in Dublin. Then, we went for a mid-day stroll to the playground to burn off some steam and then got some ice-cream. After work Amory and I went over to her best friend Gabe's pool to play and swim- and when we got home the neighborhood girls were waiting with their trikes... so she did that too. We are really looking forward to a solid sleep tonight!
With this week being so eventful, it being so late, and having typed so much- I am not going to read back over this and edit.... anything. Forgive me.
